Frequently asked questions
How do I convert work hours to payroll hours?
Payroll systems usually want decimal hours (8.5, not 8:30). This calculator shows both next to every total, and the CSV export writes decimal hours per day plus the overtime split.
Does it calculate gross pay?
Yes — set the hourly rate (per day if rates differ) and the overtime rules. Gross pay = straight pay for all hours + the overtime premium, with tips kept separate.
What about taxes?
This stops at gross pay. For net pay estimates use the paycheck calculator.
